2 Wheelers, Student projects

Design of a 2 Wheel Highway Tourer

Touring on 2-wheeler is not something to be bracketed into simple travel. It’s a LOT more than mere travel. It’s a LOT more than a journey and way beyond in content and context compared to the start, the route and the destination. Its many lifetimes compressed into a single one, each one singular and as tantalizingly exciting as the other. Every moment of ‘travel’ when done on a 2-wheeler is as unique as our finger-printed identities. And this uniqueness is what makes touring on two wheels such a big and influential teacher in life. The intention of this project was to design a 2-wheeler for such riders who are riding for passion experiencing the road journey decreasing the risks and certain difficulties that come with it. And it should also connect with the emotions of the prospective users. A brief study of the 2-wheeler used for touring was researched. A thorough user research helped in finding out what do the prospective users really wish for while going for touring. The project explores the design of a step-through 2-wheeler employing the combination of quantitative web survey analysis, telephonic semi-structured conversations and aesthetic study using google forms from the participants.
