Transformable Motorcycle for future

Riding comfort is strongly dependent on the ergonomic fit of the rider on the motorcycle which can only be achieved by tailor-making the product for a particular user. As far as automotive industry is concerned this is quite impractical achieve along with the large production numbers to be met. The versatility of the product is also the key to offer more to the customer. For example, there are multiple categories of motorcycles in the market designed for a particular application. A user will not be able to experience a specific ride unless he owns the respective category of motorcycle. With the advanced technologies in the future transformability of the product can be explored to address these challenges.

This project focuses on conceptualizing a transformable electric motorcycle for future which would adapt to the ergonomic requirement of the rider as well as different ride modes. Research phase started with an understanding of the brief history of motorcycles. The latest design and technological trends in motorcycle industry were identified. Based on the insights of the future study, scenario and user profile was created to formulate the design brief.

DESIGN BRIEF

Conceptualize a transformable motorcycle for a young urban dweller for the year 2035. Motorcycle fits requirements of multiple ride modes with a flexible geometry.

– Variable wheelbase and ground clearance
– Changeable seat height
– Variable handlebar height, width and reach

Explore new ways to achieve the transformability of the vehicle. Targeted audience are the professionals working in creative fields, live in a metropolitan city of 2035 who enjoy riding a motorcycle for daily commute and for long rides on weekends.exterior design should reflect the theme ‘Being one with a machine in the serenity of nature’. The motorcycle should reinvent the joy of riding.
