Two-wheelers are widely used in police and military forces because of their capabilities. One of the departments that use motorcycles extensively is the patrolling department. My project is designing a patrolling motorcycle
for the Mumbai police. Different problems existing in current police motorcycle design in terms of form and functions are found. The intend was to come up with a design solution for these problems. Different activities carried out by the police marshals were studied to understand how patrolling is done and what are the challenges faced by the officers.

These motorcycles are always on the road and carry police equipment’s that have to be used for different purposes. Background research on different kinds of motorcycles and different types of equipment used in our country and globally were and compared.

This research gave some good insights to decide what equipment’s to incorporate into the design.

The user study of patrolling policemen who use the patrol motorcycles regularly was conducted to find what the problems are in the existing design. Also, an observational study was done while interacting with the policemen. These insights were further carried to the design brief,
Concepts are made according to the brief, addressing all the key points. The final design is made after evaluating the concepts

Designing the police motorcycle according to the needs and aspirations of the users will make the job easier and effective for the police .who work for
our safety.
