IIT Bombay is a top ranked educational institute in India. It was observed that in such large campuses, residents, students and visitors can often reach to the main gate by public transport, but after entering the campus they don’t have any vehicle to reach to the home, college or hostel. Also, staff and students who don’t have cycles or personal vehicles face inconvenience because there is currently minimal transport solution to reach to the work or college. They have to wait for an auto rickshaw or walk 2 to 3 kilometers to reach to their home or hostel. The situation gets even worse during the rainy season or during the night. Based on rigorous studies, an electric shuttle system was proposed that would provide connectivity between the various important landmarks within the campus such as gates, hostel complexes, residential areas and market. The proposed e-Shuttle would use the latest technology, sensors and still propose relevant solutions for a better overall experience. It will also thrive bring quietness back to the campus.
